The Pinson Valley High School “Marching Chiefs” are from down the road about ½ an hour from us. Pat’s late husband was the Art teacher at this school.

Christmas tributes

OK..so I forgot how to do this ! But staying in the spirit of the season, I thought I should try a christmas tribute blog, besides that I am very jealous of Jen's blog all decked out for the holidays and even Kristin and Amanda's myspace. How do you guys have little kids and still find time to do all this stuff? I can't seem to even get my Tree up !!!

Anyway, It's here again snow, crowds, all day shopping trips, Family, friends,... silent night and Peace on earth? Well, maybe not so much. It is Christmas time....and this picture below is my tribute to Christmas past. Do you believe that I know how to scan a picture? It's a "christmas miracle" I tell you.

Look closely.. Now we all know the real history and origin of the "Charlie Brown" Christmas tree.. Not to mention the beautiful decorations. Check the christmas box upstairs "under the thing dad built" at Grandma's; same icicles, same garland, still using them. The curtains in the background, maybe it's just me, but I'd be willing to bet my christmas goose that I wore a dress of the same material in a school picture. And yes, it was hand-me-down from Theresa, Grace, Margie and Barb. (and mom said she made it special for me, hah.) The wrapping paper on the gifts below the tree... You guessed it still upstairs, "under the thing dad built" The sweet, innocent little boy in the wagon? You see if you can figure out who it is !

Coming soon to a blog near you.. My tributes to christmas present and future. Merry Christmas to all!!

News from Mandy and Rick

Hi Everyone! I'm posting a message for Mandy and Rick. I'm asking everyone to keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers as they just learned last night that their baby boy, due in November, has a heart defect that will require immediate, emergency surgery after delivery. More information about the defect, called "Transposition of the Great Arteries" can be found here- http://www.pediheart.org/parents/defects/TGA.htm Mandy will keep everyone updated through their "Caring Bridge" Website at this address- http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/eylertwins where updates can also be found about Landon and Brenden as well.

The doctors are planning to schedule a c-section for November 15th, and she will probably have to deliver in Cleveland because there are pediatric heart surgeons there who can do the surgery immediately. They will be spending alot of time between here and Cleveland, so if you're able to help out with childcare, meals, travel expenses, gas cards, phone cards, etc. please talk with Jake and Janie or Mandy and Rick. Above all else, please pray for a safe delivery of their son, and a safe surgery and quick recovery.

The GrAd-e-ate

Well...do y'all believe it!! We "dun gadeated"! Not only does Beloit have runnin' water and 'lectric. Now I know of at least one High School "gaduate". That's right !!!

Katie enjoyed an excellent graduation and amazing party thanks to all of you. We were blessed with a beautiful day, great food and fun and wonderful family and friends to share it all with. A big thank you to those of you (Aunt T and Kayla) who helped me with the food and decorating. We couldn't have done it without all your help. Another thank you to all of you who took the time to come out to the party. I understand that it is a little harder these days to get passports. And yet another thank you to those who couldn't make it but called or sent a card.....again Thank you. Last but not least "thanks" to that one person who provided a free guided tour of my messy house. I knew the day couldn't go by without at least one embarrassing moment. 'Really appreciated that!!!!

All in all, like many others in this family we have survived our first high school graduation. Now on to bigger and better things for our first little bird to leave the nest. Fortunately, I have just a few years to recover before the class of 2014 graduates.
Now for all you "young" parents with little ones... the next time someone tells you to savor every moment you have with them, because they grow up too fast. Believe me when I tell you that is absolutely true!!... and give all those cute little babies an extra hug and kiss from their "dumb old aunt beck".

Summer time. . .

Finally the warm weather has come!! You better believe that we have been taking full advantage of the heat. We got an inflatable swimming pool, battery charged four wheelers and lots of sun screen. . .what else could you ask for?? It has been so nice coming out of "hibernation",so to speak. We are looking forward to upcoming parties, cookouts, and festivals. This summer should be a lot of fun with the stage that we are in. We are even going to attempt our first family vacation to North Carolina in July. It ought to be quite interesting!! We are going to stay with Trey's friend, his wife and their two kids. I don't think they have a clue what they are getting in to! I will keep everyone posted!! Enjoy!!
