Things that make you go Hmmm...

Speaking as a half empty nester, mother of two teenage daughters, living somewhat off of the beaten path, with a husband that... well anyway. Lets just say, our family, tends to "march to a different drum"... and that's OK. We like it. But I have learned over the last few years and especially the last few monthes.... that sometimes it's better just to shake your head and walk away. Just say Hmmmmmm!!!
For example, I went to the grocery store and bought a box of huge black trash bags, Just like the rest of you, we do have trash here. They were $6.00 a box and I remember belly-aching about the price of garbage bags. They're for trash, junk, crap, landfill, for pete's sake.... what the heck!, or as I'm learning to speak, WTH??? So you have to understand my frustration, when I couldn't find them and thought that yet again my peri-menopausal mind had gotten the best of me....

Hmmmm....Ohhhh... no wait..... are those my trash bags?? ....HMMMMM....I guess when you don't have a nice pool in your back yard like "everyone else does", per Megan, and it's 99 degrees outside, you have to find some way to cool yourself off ! Right?, just ask Megan !

Hmmmm...and sometimes it's best just not to even ask..... just shake your head and walk away.

See what I mean, I don't even ask,

I just shake my head,

say Hmmmmm,

and walk away!

Until next time.....Happy blogging, Becky.

Celebrate!!

It's been awhile since anyone posted here, but I'm hoping people are still occasionally checking. We're planning a little "get-together" at GAB's house to celebrate Grandma's 83rd birthday. Beck said something about "Fish Fry" and that's where my ears stopped listening and my stomach took over. So without further ado...

Of course, there will be lots of food, and drinks, and a CORN HOLE tournament to make the picnic complete. I will be there with my camera, and if you think you might like a family picture, we can do that too.

And since it is a BIG GAME for the BUCKEYES against USC that day, we will find a way to get the game on radio or TV or some other kind of media. Oh yes, we will.

Hope to see everyone there!!

Sum, Sum, Summer Time

I couldn't resist, I love reading all these blogs about the kids (big and little), enjoying the summer. Here at Beloit Green Acres, we've been busy too. Most of our free time is still being spent at the ballfields.

I'm actually getting good at being a bleacher "*&$#!@", I mean bum! I've learned to only yell good comments. It makes for a nicer ride home that way! As you can see Tom is coaching Megan's team.

Now we have proof that Megan does know what "down and ready" means.....

Congrats to Homeworth Fab; second in their division, working for first in the play-offs.
Gotta love those girls !!!!

Saturday, Megan joined her friend and her family for 7 days of Fun and Sun in the Outer Banks in a quaint little 7 bedroom beach front home. You know she's worked hard all year...she really does deserve a vacation. Just ask her, she'll tell you. I on the other hand will be "driving miss Katie"

.... 6 and 1/2 hours to Louisville, Ky.. for 3 days of ummm.. let's see, fun ..? and oh yeah..... The American Dairy Goat Association National Show..... I KNOW.... YOU ARE ALL JEALOUS OF ME !! Just wait 'til you see that blog!

So while there is not much corn hole goin' on here, it's been a busy summer. Flowers are planted, mulching is done.. I am very proud of my flowers... still living after a month..... just like the gold fish...they both survived overnight.....

... And our garden is in and we've already harvested our first batch of cucumbers and weeds...

So now, I'm off to pack for my big trip....watch for that blog to come.

NO means NO

Okay, everyone understands that no means no....especially when it comes from your mother. So when I said, "No more two or four-legged, feathered, furred or finned friends on this "farm"... I meant no. After all even if this was considered our little Green Acres wanna be, or even maybe Beverly Hillbillies...pre bubbling crude discovery, I'm pretty sure that 15 chickens, 3 goats, 1 dog and 3 cats are plenty in our little neck of the woods. There is really no amount of wimpering, pouting, blue-eyed-eyelash-blinking, lip quivering, pleading, begging, empty-promise-making whining that will make me change my mind...... We all know that when mom says no she means no, and don't make me mad....because if momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!

With that being said let me introduce you to Brody.... better know at a rather loud screech as "BRODY JAMES BAD DOG"....

Brody... evidently was Lonely?... because he was shortly followed by..."Honey, don't forget ....the peeps I ordered will be in soon....."

...24 of them to be exact. Poor lonely peeps......Wednesday night, came home from work, met at the door with "Hi Mom...I love you...." complete with "raccoon in a corn field, possum eatin' you-know-what grin.... "guess what daddy found for me...."

....Meet the "turtal"...per Megan's spelling, who now resides in my laundry room in a nice little glass aquarium on my dryer......But wait there's more....

Katie moved back home Thursday night from school. I woke up Friday morning, bleery-eyed, half asleep, desperately searching my way to the kitchen for my first cup coffee... when I stumbled upon this on my kitchen island....

....But don't worry...... she at least left me a note......

See.... I'm glad everyone listens to their mother!!

Greeeeeeen Acres is the place to be.

Farm Livin' is the life.. for me????

the "Eastep petting Zoo"... is open by appointment only.

How I got my "NAME"

Did you know that the VW was first introduced to the USA from Germany in 1949? How about this.... the 1st 45lp, as well as cable television, automated street lights and Soap Operas were new to the USA in the same year. "Rudolph the red nosed reindeer" the song hit the air waves and George Orwell published the now infamous "1984". Aren't I smart to know all this junk?
...By the way gas was 17 cents a gallon.
I bet you just can't wait to hear the 'rest of the story". ...In case you haven't heard it yet... It all started on a wintery cold sunday afternoon at Giant Eagle.... all by myself. Don't feel sorry for me, because as some of you older mothers know and some of you younger mothers are finding out...sometimes this isn't always a bad thing. Anyway, I'm all alone in the card aisle crying over the sympathy and coping cards as I usually do, and I do mean crying. We're talking, tears streaming, nose running, red-eyed crying. quick glance at the birthday cards to ease my mind and tears (and to see who is staring at me wiping my nose on my sleeve.) A short moment to ponder....who can I buy a birthday card for...who has a birthday in March? The proverbial Light bulb, albeit dim comes on in my head. I am so smart... Rick..... I'll buy a birthday card for Rick, his birthday's in March. (I KNOW..... Just read the story) Funny birthdays cards stop the tears all the time, I am a pro at this, believe me it works. 20 minutes and one funny birthday card for Rick later and NO More Tears!!!

I was so proud of myself, gloating all the way home. Tom laughed, Katie laughed and Megan is twelve so she said "Whatever.. can I get on the computer now" . So I had it, the perfect birthday card for Rick, and now my goal was to even send it on time! (He's gonna be so proud of me.) Now, being the brilliant person that I am, I think I can do one better. a perfect birthday card, deserves the perfect blog. So as not to bore you; please see the aforementioned useless researched information regarding 1949. The year Rick was born. And I know that it is the correct year, because I went so far as to look it up in the "Trescott" book.

My life is good, sent the perfect card(on time), perfect blog, and now the perfect e-mail typed to the tune of Happy birthday to Rick, and of course it was sent on the perfect day... Ricks birthday!

Sounds like a fairy tale; Beck has managed to finally get something right, do it right and on time. And as my life goes.....BAMMMM!!!! ... like a ton of bricks.... like a smack in the face, like a bad dream, like a plant in a shower cake (marge did that), like a kick in the ... well you get my point. Please read the following excerpt from an email received from the Blountville Birthday Boy himself.....

"Have you been overdoing the spring equinox celebrating just a little maybe? My birthday is in September. Now Bill .....was born 61 years ago today" march 21st.

....Need I say more.... Happy blogging and happy belated birthday to Bill.....
xoxoox DUMB OLD BECK.

...you might be from Beloit....

..If it gets so cold that even your birds eat inside....

...You might be from Beloit!

..If your kids are the poster children for Carhart, (or maybe tide?)

....You might be from Beloit!

......If you have a snow fort at the edge of your drive instead of a "welcome" sign.....

...you might be from Beloit!

...and the number one reason you might be from Beloit....

If your swimming pool doubles as a sled in the winter time...

.....YOU MIGHT BE FROM BELOIT......
HAPPY WINTER TO ALL .... STAY WARM, AND HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL IN THE SPRING !!!
