Hot Stock Tips...

For the past 6 months now I have been hearing ....Mom, just 6 months--- Mom just 4 months----Mom just 1 month.....thats right in just 1 way to short month Kayla will be 151/2 years old which means as any of you who have gone through teenagers know ---you got it!!! TEMPORARY DRIVING PERMIT. Those words alone means lots and lots and lots of Excedrin - Extra Strength of course and lots of Miss Clairol - my hot stocks tip. We picked up our study guide this past week end - flipped though it and said " this looks boring - I'm not reading it.!!!!" I did come home yesterday and she proudly announced that she cooked for herself as I was working so that should prove she is ready to get her temps. I replied - Oh what did you cook?? Her reply - Hot Dogs!!! I have to admit she did not boil the water dry and burn the hot dogs like a certain aunt of hers did - so I guess that should count for something. So during our whole driving conversation she let me know that she thinks she gets everything about driving except one thing. Oh I say.... What would that be??? Well, she says...if I'm driving on one road and turn onto another road....how do I know what side of the road to drive on?? Yep...Excedrin and Miss Clairol. Happy investing!!!!!

Birthday Memories

Today, February 25th, 2009, dad would have been 83 years old. So for just one blog I want to be sentimental, somewhat sappy and maybe just a little emotional.
We all know that dad didn't always keep his father of the year trophy shining at the front of his trophy case, but he was a good dad, grandpa and great grandpa in his own way, to alot of kids. I believe that if you would ask each of the twelve of us to describe our dad, we would each describe a different man. When Billy was young, Dad was young, and when I was, well, younger, dad was older. These are the memories I have of my dad.

My Dad was a brother, son, husband, co-worker, neighbor and friend. he was a beer drinker, a smoker, a singer and a guitar player. He loved classic country from Charlie Rich to Johnny Cash. He loved flannel shirts and his white socks. In the summer time it was sleeveless white T-shirts, proudly sporting his "mother" tatoo, bermude shorts to his knees, white socks and slip on shoes. He always had a tan, a comb-over and a cap. The jeans he wore were always wider than they were long, and mom would cut them off and "hem them at the knees" to make them fit.

He came home from work at 7:00am everyday, had 2 cups of coffee and cigarettes and was off to bed until 11:00. He then would sit at the end of the table with a little more coffee, a lot more cigarettes and do the daily puzzle with the paper folded just right. he would only drink from one particulary heavy, thick, old, coffee cup. He would get up at 9:30 pm every night, need a thermos of coffee, 2 sandwiches with sandwich spread, 4 cookies( fig newtons were his favorite) and 2 full packs of cigarettes to get him through the night. He never missed work; if he did you knew he was ill.

When I was really young I would be allowed to sit outside on the swing with him, or even on the front porch if I was quiet, while he recorded letters on cassettes to send to Bill.

Every Summer He would plant new grasss seed under the apple trees, tie it off with twine and pie plates, and build a platform for your feet under the swings. And every summer the grass would all be trampled down again and die. But he did it every year.

On Sunday mornings, he made fried eggs. He was responsible for turning on the mashed potatoes at 11:00 while we were at church. After Lunch, on special occasions, he would get out his guitar and play. I loved to hear him sing "Hey Joe" and "The green, green grass of home". If we were really lucky, Dad would take us Roller skating. Boy, could he ever skate! Front Skate, Backwards skate, the Flee Hop, the Hokie Pokie and Free Style. He would glide acros the rink like a star. Just ask mom; that's how they met. Once a year on Sunday night, when the Wizard of Oz was on, Dad would make homemade doughnuts for us.

He coined the phrase "3 swats and a boot", invented "the thing dad built" and never missed an opportunity to brag about how he had 2 belt driven dishwashers at home. He loved playing poker with the boys, a full boat, and to bet "from the hip". He has had the honor of walking many women down the aisle and only being married to one.

He was the happiest when all the kids, young and old, were around. Birthdays, Christmas, Easter or a "garage party". He was the best thing that ever happened to Eric Michael, and Eric Michael was the best thing that ever happened to him. The best thing that I ever did was to let him be a part of my children's lives. For quite a while, Katie, Michael and Grandpa were the 3 musketeers and he spoiled them rotten. When Megan came along, he became her "papa" and he walked on water in her eyes. Even when the pedestal she put him on became a wheel chair, her grandpa was all she ever needed.
This is the dad I remember, and for all these memories and many more, I feel lucky and blessed to have had such a special man in my life, and to be able to have shared him with my family.
Happy 83rd birthday, Willie ! You are loved and missed by all.

I've fallen and I can't get up?

OK, well maybe I haven't really fallen, and maybe this pile up was planned, and looking closely at the pictures I'm guessing that it really isn't even me...maybe BillBarbRickKenMargie.....oh and you know Jake had to be a part of this..... you all know the name routine.

Regardless, I saw this picture in the "Trescott treasures" and thought it was a good one. I'm not sure who's idea it was to tricycle down the hill in the snow, but I'm sure it was preceeded with "Hey, let's try this!, shortly followed by "Hey mom, I think Joe needs stitches." Possibly even followed by "3 swats and a boot" Wait, Maybe that's another picture I'm thinking of. I bet if you look real close in the picture, there is not one matching set of gloves and I'll bet everyone has bread bags in their boots, too. .. and is that really a sled in the background or a dresser drawer from"the thing dad built" ?

Even the background of the picture is priceless. Is that a "Bellaire" or a "Cadillac" in the driveway....obviously way before Ken bought the House. Speaking of the house, Look at all the upgrades that have been done!!! I'm going with asbestos filled shingle siding. That would explain a lot.

Okay, enough for the "sled ride" down memory lane. "hope everyone had a wonderful christmas, a happy new year and a great year to come.

happy bloggin'

Becky

My Daughter, the Author!

Hey y'all, Merry Christmas from Alabama. Hope everyone is doing well and surviving the Holiday Season.
I just wanted to let everyone know that Britte has written, illustrated and published a Children's book. It's called "Fiddlebug", and I really need to let her tell you all about it. She has a website for the book, http://www.fiddlebugsforest.com/ and her E-mail address is revisedelf@yahoo.com
I have read the rough draft manuscript and the story is real cute, but haven't gotten my actual copy of the illustrated book yet. I'm really proud of her!!

Secrets and Birthdays

Theresa Roseann Marie Trescott was born on November 21st, 1963; the day after JFK was shot. Mom will tell you that she remembers being in the hospital feeding Theresa when she heard the news. All the Nurses were crying. 'Not sure now if that was because of Theresa or JFK, but anyway.
So I'll bet there are quite a few things you may not know about our birthday girl, so I will be ever so happy to let you in a a few "secrets". Now, just like on Dancing with the Stars, I will give you "in no particular order" ten things I'll bet you didn't know about "T".

10. She likes to wear her pjs inside out. At least that is what she told me once.

9. She was known in school as "Sister Theresa" because she would never do
anthing wrong.

8. She was accidently shot in the head. Caught in the crossfire betwwen a pellet gun and
a fly.

7. She cannot dive off of a diving board. Trust me it's ugly.

6. She cannot rollerskate backwards. Well, she can, but it's ugly too.

5. She cannot back up a car. REALLY.. you know the song "give me 40 acres and I'll turn
this rig around". She has a cavalier and 40 acres just won't do it for her.

4. She had 1 babydoll growing up, and still has that same babydoll "Michelle". She
couldn't go to sleep without cuddling "Michelle".

3. She still has a scar and a bald spot on her head where "Shep" got her during a trip to
Missouri.

2. And, she really wasn't trapping, fishing or hunting the night she got stuck on the
railroad tracks !!!!

And the most important thing I'll bet none of you ever knew about our birthday girl is.....

1. On occasion, when we might possibly have fought as sisters, when we were young,
SHE was the one who always started those fights. I might have screamed and hollered
but only 'cause she was punching and kicking. I was the innocent one.

So the next time you see "T" ask her about some of those "secrets". They are all true !!! Or if you have a quick minute email her a happy 45th birthday at down40@aol.com.

Happy 45th Birthday !!! "T".... all our love !

Peytons Birthday Party...

So, as alot of you found, we had a great time at Peytons Birthday Party on this past Saturday. I apologize for not getting the pictures posted sooner - we've had alot of things going on (retail therapy....Christmas sales....) and I have a wedding coming up this weekend. So, for those of you that were there and those of you that werent...here they are...

Of course, the Birthday Boy eating his cake...check out the look on his face.

Here's Brooklyn, very carefully applying makeup....reminds me of the "is it on straight?" lady from the comercial a long time ago.

Now the pinata was a great hit. Especially for Dillion and Kennedy. I believe Kennedy is actually the one who hit the "body" of of blue leaving just the head hanging.

Now I think Aunt Becky said it well when she said "Watching all of these kids made me appreciate my kids more"....They were crazy - running all over the place...and if my kids were atleast in school, i think i would have been thinking that too. I think this is what Grandma was thinking here in this pic. "Thank God these arent my 13 kids running around..." We had approximately 18 kids at the party...most of them under 4. We also had 3 sets of twins at the party. Here's two of them....

Anyways, we had a great time! If you'd like, all of the pictures are here at: My Photobucket Site. Have a great weekend!
