School Days, School Days!

It's picture Day!!!

Don't you just love school pictures. Remember the "home hair cuts" the week before school pictures? Remember how excited we used to get at St. Louis, because we didn't have to wear our uniforms that day! Remember when we'd actually be excited to miss class to stand in a single file line in that nasty gym. Remember those cheap little black plastic combs we would get? Remember the class pictures, when you always had to stand next to the stinkiest boy in class, or the one with all the warts or acne or whatever that was? And remember no matter how hard you tried, you always had a goofy smile, or your eyes closed, or that hair out of place, or that look on your face. Remember how excited you were to pass them out the next day, and see how many boys would ask for your picture?

Do you Remember who all these kids are in these school pictures?
Just for something fun, I will donate a gift card to the one Trescott (or descendant thereof) who can guess every person in this picture correctly.
Here are the rules:
No cheating
No sharing answers
Correct answers are based on the bearly legible writing on the back of certain pictures.
If there are multiple winners I will draw one random name.
These school pictures include two generations of Trescotts
and remember, there could be duplicates !!
Put your anwers in the comment section of this blog, or you can email them to me at beastep@embarqmail.com

Why my closets are messy!

Since the weather outside is freightful, and our woodburner felt so delightful, I started the task of cleaning out.... rooms, closets, boxes. You name it, I was intending on cleaning it out. THIS weekend! It was happening- no excuses, if I didn't use it within the last six monthes it was going! Look out Goodwill, Salvation Army, Resale Shops, Kennedy, Brooklyn..and even .. (oops, don't tell their mommies!!) First task at hand the livingroom closet. Full of coats, books, wrapping paper, cards and photo albums! PHOTO ALBUMS !!!! UGHHH!!!

And then it happened! (enter background music from your favorite horror movie here) when it was just to dark in the room to see the pictures any more. Just when my tissues were all gone. I realized I had managed to spend 3 hours carefully turning each and every page of each and every photo album in that closet. Obviously, well worth it, looking back at wedding pictures, babies, graduations, christmas's past...

I came upon these two pictures and thought I would share:

I believe this picture was taken in 1987 or 1988. It probably would have been Grandma Trescott's last christmas with us.

This picture was taken in 1982,(I think) at the Christmas party at Grace's house.

Then it hit me! I wonder where all those old family photos of mom's might be??? Most of you remember putting the tables together at Thanksgiving with the blue cups and gold silverware, graduation parties where the boys got dunked in some form of water, backyard Volleyball games, Sunday afternoon picnics, all the weddings, and even a reunion or two.

Needless to say, one phone call and a road trip to Louisville later, and in true "Becky" fashion, I now have, in my possession; One rather large, dusty, banana box full of black and white, and color Trescott memories. (and messy closets) By the way, it was under the bed on the east side, of the west wall, next to the thing dad built.

So you might want to check this blog frequently, I'm just saying.....

Happy Blogging, Becky!

Remember When

Remember when
the sound of little feet
was the music
We danced to week to week
Brought back the love, we found trust
Vowed we'd never give it up
Remember when

Remember when
thirty seemed so old
Now lookin' back it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are,
Where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when

October 2009 057

Remember when
we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had
And we'll remember when

My old stuff

I have a confession to make. I love old stuff! I'm not addicted to it. It's definitely not a weird, sick fetish. I'm not obsessed or posessed for that matter. I just like the stuff!

I don't browse or peruse all the antique malls, outlets, or shops, on or off of the beaten path. I have never bought or sold my "old stuff" on e-bay. As a matter of fact I don't even watch the Antique road show, now that we have satelite!

I guess you could call me somewhat sentimental. I love my old stuff because of its history, where it came from, where it has been and especially because of who may have given it to me.

None of my old stuff may be worth much of anything (for those who need to put a price tag on everything). Actually, it may be broken, scratched, dented, rusted or even cracked. That is what makes it unique, special, and old.

I love my sewing machine, my secretary, my butcher block, my crocks and my trunk. I even have some jewelry and a favorite picture that I love.

But..... I have to confess yet again, that of all of the old stuff that I have; the one "old thing" thing I love the most....The one "old thing" that I would never part with, would never give up without a fight, never sell on e-bay or even at a garage sale........ has to be this.......

...MY HUBBY,

HAPPY 47TH BIRTHDAY to My favorite "old thing"!!!!!

Really????, didn't ya kinda wonder where this was going????

More Summer Stuff

WOW, August already! Before long those crazy, big yellow bus's will be at the end of the driveway beeping and flashing thier lights while your kids run down the drive way, coat half on, breakfast hanging from their mouths, carrying one shoe, dragging a back pack, while trying to fix their hair, shouting"Luv you too, Mom", No, MOM... stay in the house.... ! MOM, please get in the HOUSE, MOM.... you're in your ROBE....EWWW.... STOP CRYING MOM, I'M IN EIGHTH GRADE !!!!! Oh, wait, what do you mean that only happens at my house???? Okay, something like that, but really I haven't cried in years on the first day of school. If I did I'm sure it was tears of joy! If you haven't been there yet, good Luck. If you have, you know what I'm talking about.

Anyway, summer's been busy here in Be-Lo-it. While Tom and I didn't get to go to the beach, we did manage to spend a week trout fishing....

Sexy, I KNOW!! You are jealous.

Megan, on the other hand, went to Myrtle beach with her friend and family. They arrived Saturday morning, and spent Saturday evening in the "Stat care" and Megan; 5 stitches later... at home, 10 days later decided she could remove her own stitches... Meet Dr. Megan: Katie is still practicing amd studying for her nursing classes..... this "cat's name is "Sher-Kahn"...But she has decided she would study much harder in her own "home" ....Yep, guess who lives in the apartment with a goat on the door? So since our nest has begun to empty..... Tom felt the need for a bigger driveway and maybe even concrete for his "shed".

Thank you "Beck's Lawn Care" .

And I have got my computer back, up and running, pictures downloaded, I've checked on my latest addiction to facebook and I've blogged. My summer is now complete. Almost.

Until Next time, Happy Blogging! Becky

A summer time Classic

AAAAAAA batter, batter, batter SWING.
Fair ball, through the legs of the first baseman....SAFE at FIRST.

I'm not sure about this one... It might be a new add for AT&T, you know, "more bars in more places." Although, these girls just might actually be watching the game and cheering on their teammates. Remember, "She's a homerun hitter and your never gonna get her......"

And we can't forget about the coach's speech after the game. "Good game ladies! You won, but you had some errors.... Hello, is anyone listening? Is anyone even looking at the coaches? What is everyone looking at? Do you ladies hear me???? Any questions? "Yeah, do we get Ice cream??????"

Gosh, frustrating, isn't it!!!!! (He's really thinking, "it's not Ice cream I want)

But Ice Cream it is, for the winning team...

..And good times, with good friends......

.......Makes Summer time softball A classic.

Happy Blogging,

Becky
