Summer time. . .

Finally the warm weather has come!! You better believe that we have been taking full advantage of the heat. We got an inflatable swimming pool, battery charged four wheelers and lots of sun screen. . .what else could you ask for?? It has been so nice coming out of "hibernation",so to speak. We are looking forward to upcoming parties, cookouts, and festivals. This summer should be a lot of fun with the stage that we are in. We are even going to attempt our first family vacation to North Carolina in July. It ought to be quite interesting!! We are going to stay with Trey's friend, his wife and their two kids. I don't think they have a clue what they are getting in to! I will keep everyone posted!! Enjoy!!

WOW, babies, babies and more babies isn't even the right description.....CONGRATS to all those young patents and new babies.....Just remember that Great Aunt Beck's Babysitting service is available every weekend.
Well, I hate to copy an old phrase but it seems like while all the "young" families are busy filling their "nests" ...... this family is beginning to empty theirs.

That's right, only 16 days of High school left. I am reminded daily. Usually at 6:53 am each morning as Katie rushes out to the bus, late again. Isn't it funny that after 12 years, she still can't remember to eat breakfast, what time the bus really does comes, or what I did with her books, but can tell you at the drop of a hat how many days of school are left? So the count down is on and then Welcome to the world of college life. I now have a new respect for all of you who have already been where I am getting ready to go. Can you all say FASFA? Well, I can say it but don't ask me to understand it!!! And what makes one book worth $180.00? (by the way, June 16th is the big graduation party.)

On the other side of our "proverbial nest" ... Megan's softball season is literally in full swing with her all-time favorite coach of the year... Her "Daddy". Games are on Tuesday and Thursdays, practice is on Sundays and one other night, yet to be announced....and will be held at my house (Lucky Becky) So far only one person has made a trip to the E.R. and that was the other coach... contrary to whatever you've heard; softballs when coming at you, bouncing off of your temple are not soft. But don't worry, it wasn't anything that 15 stitches couldn't take care of. And NO it wasn't me or Megan who hit him! Anyway, not such a bad season afterall!!

So over the next few months we will all be at the softball fields or on the "corner" selling my wares to pay for those books. Hope to see you all on the 16th.

Hello all! I just came across this when I was checking my old e-mail account. Glad to see messages from the whole gang. Everything is good on our end. Married life is going great. Adam is still working his crazy hours at the station, but loves what he does (and I'm pretty proud of him too). Kristin and I have decided we will never be normal with our fireman and policeman! The school year is really flying by. Four more weeks and I will already say farewell to my sixth graders. I'm not sure where I'll end up next year, I'll keep you posted if I ever find out!! I'm also starting my second year as the j.v.volleyball coach for Louisville. I had a great time last season and can't wait to get underway again. This month we'll have had our house for a year already. We're excited to get outside this summer and do some major yard work. Adam signed us up for a co-ed summer golf league which is sure to provide some great entertainment. Any golf tips would be much appreciated (Rookie is an overstatement)! Hope all is well with everyone! I'll be sure to stop by the site often!

Babies and more babies...

Just a quick update to everyone who might not be on a "mailing list" or get the latest news. I'm a little sketchy on some of the details, so if anyone wants to post an update with some more specific information, that would be fine...

Jason and I had a baby girl on April 5- Sydney Elizabeth Norch
BethAnn and Jesse had a baby boy in early April- John Patrick Cordova
Missy and JJ are expecting a baby in late August/early September
Mandy and Rick are expecting a baby in November, around Thanksgiving

The family tree is growing, exponentially it seems!! We need to have a true "reunion" weekend where everyone can get together and all these kids can meet and play! Anyone else up for helping plan something for later this summer? I'm willing to do most of the work, but I might need a few people to help out with some things. Get back to me if you're interested... jennifer@norch.com.

spring is here!!

Well, spring is here and so is soccer season. Kayla's first game was this past Sunday which of course they lost 1 - 0. With the cold and wind I was surprised anybody even scored. Her next game which was supposed to be Friday is cancelled already - so our season is off to a great start. Anyway, she has tournaments in Euclid on Saturday and Sunday of Memorial day weekend - so if any one know of any nice campgrounds or any "hot spots" up that way to take a 13 year old - let me know. We will probably make a week end of it!!

Great seeing all the twins at Easter and of course everyone else as well!!

sofas and studebakers

OK, picture this... the year is 1947. You could buy a brand new Chevy or Ford for a whopping $2000.00. Not near the amount needed for a decent down payment in 2007. The Streamlined Studebaker was originally introduced in American in 1947. So I've read that the Studebaker was "a big joke" when introduced, because "you couldn't tell the front from the back." Not that I remember or know any of this, but thanks to the wonderful world of internet information, I sound really intelligent. Quite the guru of car history facts, without the pocket protector. I have also learned in my quest for stupid facts that the definition of antique, according to Mr. Webster is "old, obsolete, not modern. A sofa is considered antique 100 years after purchase. A car, The Studebaker for example, after only 25 years.

So why the history lesson you ask? Why the reminiscent ramblings?? Where am I going with this....? Well, as it turns out 1947 was a very important year in history, and not just for the Studebaker. March 21st. 2007 marks the 60th anniversary of the beginning of the branch of the family tree known as the descendants of William H. Trescott, JR. In other words, our brother and uncle, the first born, the only Trescott not to have to wear hand-me-downs, and the one that mom and dad practiced perfect parenting on(... you know he had clean diapers, everything got sterilized, and there are thousands of pictures of him.), hits the BIG 6-0 in a mere 3 days. I didn' t want to come right out and say that it's Bill's 60th birthday; you know with age comes crankiness, not to mention arthritis, gray hair, AARP, hip replacements and BINGO. I can't quite picture Bill at the BINGO hall. There he is 45 minutes before game time, cautiously setting up a plethora of lucky train engines and guitars, warming up his Acme Perfect Purple No-Drip Bingo Dabber to mark his 60 bingo cards that he's playing for free on his birthday. Note that he has already scratched off his $50.00 worth of instant bingo tickets. Hey..remember that it's his birthday...he plays for free... so he can splurge with the instant tickets.

With all of that said, 1947 was a big year for the Studebaker, now considered antique by definition. It was also the birthday year for Bill, in my opinion, not considered an antique by definition. Dottie on the other hand may be able to sell him in her shop now. That's why she's stuck with him all these years. Seriously, who would've thought Bill was 60. He sure looks better than a Studebaker, and personally I've always been able to tell the back from the front of him... as long as he's wearing his glasses. Except, one night he was talking politics.... things were getting pretty ugly.

So if you have a spare minute, drop a card; snail or e-mail, to Bill to help him celebrate his 60th birthday, and remember as antiques go... its better to be a sofa than a Studebaker.

IF BECK CAN - I CAN

ok...my first attempt at setting up and fowarding my new e-mail address didn't go real great - I sent my new e-mail address out and didn't put who I was. Never had so many people say "who are you?" Kayla showed me how to IM people - but the only IM addresses I have are her friends - so lets hope my blogging attempts go a little better. This blogging idea is really neat and a great way to keep up on things. I will be in here often.
